Concept design for a private residence located in the desert in the Western United States.

The client’s travel through Northern Italy inspired the use of fieldstone and clay tile as the primary exterior materials for the home. There was an opportunity for the stone to carry through to the interior in the main living space as well. Deep, South facing porches provide much needed shade when the sun is high. The home’s East and West facades are protected by trees and plants. We were also able to incorporate a central courtyard allowing the use of operable windows to create cross ventilation through the rooms and spaces within the home.
