Private Residence – Concept Design
Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee
The organizing concept for this home proposes two distinct linear volumes; one dedicated to private spaces and another dedicated to shared social spaces. These two volumes are linked by a central entry and courtyard. The home is shaded by mature, protective trees that naturally cool the air during summer months. Private life is encouraged to extend outward, with four bedrooms each opening onto a deeply shaded porch with enclosed gardens at each end. The public volume opens out to gardens and a covered patio with a fireplace. A swimming pool is located at the back of the home, surrounded by gardens filled with wild plants and grasses. The home is is supported by a timber structure and enclosed with stacked fieldstone, treated wood cladding, and glass.
