A private real estate investor approached us to renovate a two-story Manhattan penthouse. The upper level of the two-story penthouse was dark and compact. The owner sought a design solution to make this floor feel much more open and light. To achieve this, we reconfigured the interior partitions and introduced clerestory windows to channel borrowed natural light into the hallway and staircase. Furthermore, the ceiling height was increased throughout the second level for a more spacious feel. Bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets were also reconfigured to optimize functionality and spatial efficiency. The lower level received a refresh with updated finishes in the entry foyer, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The outdoor terrace was enhanced with a dining and seating area, a shade canopy, and planter beds for small trees and shrubs.
