Private Residence
Upstate, New York
This Upstate New York residence was designed in response to its natural terrain. The architectural volumes step with the existing topography, minimizing site impact. This natural slope allowed for a tall entry porch. The home is constructed with a mass timber frame, and is composed of stacked stone, glass, and concrete. The main living spaces occupy the primary level, with three bedrooms located below. A separate, split-level volume contains the main bedroom, featuring a private patio. This patio and pool, enclosed on three sides, open to the wooded hillside. The outdoor living area extends the home’s functionality throughout the year.
